3. 2. 1...

Updated: Jan 23, 2022

“God’s not the safety net, He’s the launch pad.”

I heard this statement the other day and, I can’t get it out of my head. In every decision that I am choosing to make I am being reminded of this question; is God my safety net right now, or will I let Him be my launch pad?

When my trust is placed in the One who is going to propel me to where I need to be, into the things that challenge me, scare me, and push me out of my comfort zones to strengthen and equip me, then do I even need a safety net?

I love the thought that God is a safety net, He’s always there to catch us when we fall, to prevent our hearts from getting seriously injured, and to be our constant security in an uncertain world. But if we only see God as our safety net, are we brave enough to take the risks that allow us to live adventurously?

There is definite comfort in knowing that God has my back, He’s the safety net no matter what happens in my life. But I don’t want to be limited to making decisions because I know God’s got my back when I fall, I want to live knowing that God’s got me as I rise.

I don’t want to live with God as just my safety net, for in case. I want to live with God as my launch pad, because without Him I may not have all I need to take me to where I want to go!

So how do you perceive God?

Is He the one who you can fall back on when the plan doesn’t work out?

Is He the one you depend so much on to take you to where you want to be?

Is He the one you go to before you’ve even decided on the plan?

Is He the one you figure out a strategy with?

Is He the one you would rather change your plans for, because you know that His launch strategy is the better one?

If God is our launch pad, we will choose to live each day with Him. Starting the day with Him, prioritizing Him, because He’s not the one we want around when the execution fails. We want Him to be on the starting line when we take the first step.

Oh what an adventure life could be, resting in God, and on Him, knowing that when the moment is right, He will launch us into all that He has prepared for us. Without fear, without hesitation, but a wholehearted – 3. 2. 1…

The worst adventure with God is better than the best adventure without Him.

When God is our launch pad, the adventure is totally worth the wait; if we’re waiting until God is ready to start our adventure. I often think about space launches, and how there is so much preparation that goes into the launch before it even begins. The same is so true of our lives. There is so much preparation that happens in our hearts and minds that we may not even be aware of. Preparation to get us ready for the best adventure, or maybe even an adventure we could never have imagined. This preparation happens in the waiting… in the moments when the adventure is just a dream… but with God our dreams are just anticipation for reality.

God wants to give us the desires of our hearts.

God wants to share in the greatest adventures of our lives.

God wants to be our launch pad.

Are you ready for the ultimate adventure?
